Personal Learning Experience

CHALLENGE

Design an updated user experience for AT&T employees to self-assess their skills in this platform and then proceed to assess their job title readiness for multiple career options. Also design a separate mobile application to increase social activity among users.

WHAT IS THIS APPLICATION ABOUT

The Personal Learning Experience (PLE) is an internal application used by all AT&T employees to complete required training and to learn new skills in order to progress within the company.

 

 

PLE ALLOWS EMPLOYEES TO

  • Assess their current skills

  • Learn new skills in order to progress to a new role

  • Complete required corporate learning

  • Interact socially with other learners

 

WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF THIS APPLICATION

The goal of PLE is to give employees a simple user interface to complete all required learning as well as improve their current skills.

Preparing Management Employees for Career Paths of the Future

Assess My Skills

All Management Employees are asked to assess their current skills in the workplace. These skills range from the ability to use certain software to skills in managing teams. I created a quick and user-friendly design to allow users to update their skills in a matter of minutes. The previous method for updating skills could take hours to complete.

Explore Career Possibilities

After completing a Skills Assessment, employees can then explore careers they may be interested in. This view allows an employee to compare the skills that they have assessed with the expected proficiencies for the job title. If the employee sees areas they need to improve they can click directly into learning opportunities to improve their skills proficiency. 

Learn New Skills

Once a user clicks into a learning opportunity they see multiple courses that have been targeted to teach that skill to the user. Once a user completes enough training that they feel they have gained a new level of proficiency for a skill they can return and update their competency assessment. The goal is to prepare the workforce for job titles they are interested in pursuing. 

PLE Mobile Application 

I designed low fidelity mockups of a Mobile Application for PLE that focused on social interaction between employees as well as on-the-go learning. The product is to be installed on all corporate phones and tablets to allow users to stay connected with their learning no matter their location.
