Understand
Before you can design a product you must understand why it should exist in the first place. In order to understand the key drivers of a project I will:

-
Interview key stakeholders
-
Create a value proposition
-
Host a kickoff meeting
Research
After understanding the basic needs of the project I begin my research. Some of the questions I answer through interviews and competitive research are:
-
Who are my users?
-
What kinds of technology are they using?
-
What comparable products already exist?
Build Personas
After conducting my research I create three to five fictional user personas to represent the users of the product I am designing. These personas contain:

-
A short biography
-
Frustrations with current product or process
-
Goals
-
Motivations
-
Other helpful details
Experience Map
With each persona, I create a basic experience map of a users' steps and feelings while interacting with the product or service in order to reach their goal. I will take special note of the users:

-
Emotional Experience
-
Emotions throughout the journey
-
Emotions towards the product
-
-
Physical count of 'clicks' to reach goal
Design Mockups
Once the basic experience map has been created I begin designing the product or service. During the design process I will create numerous versions of the following:

-
Hand-sketched wireframes
-
Low fidelity designs
-
High fidelity designs
-
High fidelity prototypes

Tools: Sketch, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, MarvelApp, Invision
Deliver Design
After iterating through numerous design versions and user testing the team will decide on a finalized design and experience. At this point I will deliver the following products to the design team:

-
Pixel-perfect images of all screens
-
In-depth style guide
-
Redlines
-
Continuous communication and support during development
